When I started working with Mimi I was experiencing chronic low/mid back pain that was connected to my history of idiopathic scoliosis and spinal fusion surgery I underwent as a teen. Fifteen+ years after my fusion, I felt out of touch with my body, unaware of how my curve and imbalances were affecting me, and overwhelmed by the pain I was feeling. I started taking Mimi’s fusions class at Samamkaya and worked with Mimi individually. Through this work with Mimi, I learned so much about my body, my spine, and how my physical and emotional well-being are interconnected. Mimi is knowledgeable, supportive, and attentive. I felt seen and understood in my work with her in ways I never had after years of working with medical practitioners, physical therapists, yoga teachers, acupuncturists, and massage therapists. I’m grateful for Mimi’s guidance and support, and knowledge I’ve developed through working with her. A year after meeting Mimi, I feel empowered, healthy, and much more connected to my body.

Having dealt with scoliosis since childhood, I’ve always been embarrassed by my physical asymmetries and scared of the health complications I might experience as I aged. Mimi Rosetti’s teaching has helped me immensely with both issues. Her choices of poses always seem tailor-made for my particular aches and pains, and her sequences make more sense to me than in other classes, building on each other till suddenly I’m holding a pose I didn’t think I had the strength and flexibility to do. I love how she gives background to what each pose does for the body. Her creative phrasing and insightful guidance helps you get the most out of every move, and hearing her talk about how she works with her own scoliosis and fused spine is both inspiring and comforting. Mimi is a true joy to work with and learn from as each encounter leaves me feeling stronger, more confident and truly enlightened.

Mimi’s yoga approach has changed my life. I came to yoga after two back surgeries but not all yoga is created equal. Mimi understands the body, its mechanisms and how it works. She assess each student and works to take away the pain and make you strong. I came to restorative and Iyengar yoga after two back surgeries. I was a forty-year-old in a seventy-year-old’s body. Yoga helped but Mimi’s individualistic approach has changed my life. She focused specifically on my pain points and making me healthier and stronger.
